Charges for employment physicals including DOT Physical Exams for Commercial Motor Vehicle Drivers are for the physical exam and NOT for any particular outcome. All determinations of DOT Physical Exams are mandated by the statutes of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) division of U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION.
All payments for DOT physicals are nonrefundable. Once the examination has started there will be NO refund of the exam fee.
If you leave in the middle of a DOT Physical you will be assigned an “incomplete” determination per FMCSA statutes and your exam fee is still nonrefundable. The most common scenarios for this are:
1. Refusal or inability to provide a urine sample
2. Getting a very high blood pressure reading and decide to walk out
3. Failing the vision test then say you’re going to get your glasses from the car/truck, but leave instead of coming back in to retake the vision test with glasses.
4. Refusal to provide lab results when requested
5. Refusal to get on the scale
6. Refusal to provide a sleep apnea compliance log if you are using a CPAP or APAP device
7. Refusal to provide or authorize release of records from other doctors (usually specialists) when requested
8. Any type of noncooperation
9. Basically, throw a temper tantrum and storm out for whatever reason(s)
