Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated in ancient China as a system of treatment that involves piercing the skin or tissues with fine needles in order to reduce or eliminate pain and to treat a variety physiological, mental, and emotional conditions. Used in the east for over 5000 years, acupuncture has now gained acceptance in the West and is available throughout the United States.

Acupuncture is a system for both treatment and diagnosis.  The key principle used in both diagnosis and treatment is that energy flows through the body in a pattern of 12 channels, also known as meridians, and that when these normal patterns of flow occur without any interruption you will have a healthy body.

The diagnostic procedure consists of determining whether which meridians have a deficient or excessive flow of “Chi” (the Chinese name for the flow of energy).  Once this has been established a treatment program can be written which will included a specific set of acupuncture points that will be stimulated. A treatment plan with the correct set of points will balance the meridians’ flow of energy by the stimulation of these points.  When this is accomplished the body’s normal function can be gradually restored.

Chiropractic and Acupuncture

Acupuncture and Chiropractic both deal with a similar condition of the body where the body’s ability to repair and heal itself is being interefered with.

Acupuncture deals with this by correcting imbalances of energy flow through the network of meridians.

Chiropractic deals with this by eliminating what is interfering with proper communication between the body and the brain via the nervous system.

Acupuncture and Chiropractic work together very well when they are determined to be needed and you can now receive the benefit of these 2 complementary procedures since the Bolick clinic is now providing Acupuncture services along with Chiropractic services to all our  patients.
